31. Term of office of members and office-bearers of governing bodies.

(1) The term of office of a member of a governing body other than a learner may not exceed three years.

(2) The term of office of a member of a governing body who is a learner may not exceed one year.

(3) The term of office of an office-bearer of a governing body may not exceed one year.

(4) A member or office-bearer of a governing body may be re-elected or co-opted, as the case may be, after the expiry of his or her term of office.

    i suspect corruption in the school. the previous principal still handles the school finance.

      The law require such action to be reported to the District Director through your EDO. But before such action is taken be aware of the team dynamics of all the stakeholders. Tread lightly with this one and follow protocol at all times.

    i fill some of SGBs is not helping the school the use that position for therm and they friend and girlfriend

      An SGB has a constitution. If what is happening is in direct violation of the constitution, The Chairperson has to be informed, if the Chairperson is directly involved the matter need to reported to District Director through the EDO and or CMC Manager. However, be wary not to make accusations that cannot be corroborated with facts and or others testimonies to the events that you are reefing to.

    Can a teacher component be elected as the treasure of the school

      No, they cannot. However a teacher can be coopted to assist the treasurer in the execution of their duties.
      A teacher act as a representative of the teachers. A parent represent the parent body. A parent must be able to ask their representative how money is being spent.
